Gran Hotel Taoro opened in 1890 as the first luxury grand hotel in Spain and has been witness to visiting royals as well as famous individuals, such as Alfonso XIII, the Duke of Kent, and Agatha Christie. It is reborn after a meticulous restoration project that combines history, neoclassical architecture, fine dining, and the utmost in contemporary comfort.

From its unique hillside setting on the Puerto de la Cruz, it offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Teide and the Atlantic Ocean.

Photoshooting

We had the privilege of photographing the different spaces of this luxury 5-star hotel. We worked on a complete report to update the image bank of this exclusive hotel. In this post, we share some of the photographs we took. Among these images, we had the honour of photographing our friend and renowned chef Erlantz Gorostiza, awarded two Michelin stars.

Photographic technique

In this post, we show some of the photographs from the report. In the interior shots, we share two shots of the Amalur restaurant, under the direction of chef Erlantz Gorostiza. The sophisticated yet accessible menu combines local produce, artisanal essence and innovation, transforming traditional flavours into experiences that evoke earth, sea, air and fire. A culinary experience that invites you to enjoy creativity and flavour in an exclusive and elegant setting.
Whenever possible, we used ambient and natural lighting in the different photographs. The aim is to reflect a scene as faithfully as possible to what we would see with our own eyes.

Photograpic Edition

All photo shooting was done with Hasselblad medium format cameras and equipment. The photographs were shot and checked in situ, but the edition work was carried out at our head office.

One of the most difficult aspects to control in indoor photography based on ambient light is the control of the interior and exterior temperature. We place special emphasis on this aspect of photographic editing because it allows us to offer a balanced and coherent atmosphere from lighting point of view.
